Morbius: The Living Vampire #24

Part of Marvel's Midnight Sons line, this August 1994 installment of Morbius: The Living Vampire pits the pale, blue-clad vampire against an enormous, demonic red figure — announced by the cover itself as the returning Basilisk — who looms overhead with clawed hands and a mouthful of jagged teeth while Morbius lies pinned beneath his overwhelming presence. The cover caption hisses that he's "the dead vampire now," setting an ominous tone for "Return of the Dragon." Nick Napolitano's pencils and Ralph Cabrera's inks deliver a visceral, high-contrast showdown that captures exactly the kind of supernatural menace this series does so well.
