Billed right on the cover as "a fairy tale for grown-ups," this third chapter of Epic Comics' Moonshadow makes that promise feel entirely earned. Jon J. Muth's painted cover presents a young, disheveled figure bound in a straitjacket and standing before a stone wall, while shadowy creatures peer from the windows around him — all of it watched over by a vast, grinning moon hanging in a deep violet sky. It's a genuinely haunting image, melancholy and strange in equal measure, perfectly setting the tone for J. M. DeMatteis's story "The Crying of the Wind.
