Moon Knight #2
The stark, burnt-orange cover of this 2014 Marvel series says everything about its mood: Moon Knight — a small, white-costumed figure — appears to be falling or diving against an urban rooftop backdrop, caught within a cone of light emanating from a crescent moon symbol fractured like broken glass. Declan Shalvey's cover design is boldly minimal, letting that shattered crescent and the lone figure do all the atmospheric heavy lifting. Warren Ellis, Shalvey, and colorist Jordie Bellaire were crafting one of the more visually distinctive takes on the character this era had to offer, and "Sniper" promises exactly the kind of tense, street-level tension that cover radiates.
