Monte Hale Western #88

The main story, "Carpet-Minded Carter," follows a ranch hand who becomes involved with carpeting after being hired to raise funds for a barn renovation; when he discovers that carpets wear out through use, he devises a scheme to sell them by the yard. In a secondary storyline, Monte Hale pursues a young man named Tom Benson, a gun-slinging outlaw, to stop him from committing crimes in the territory, ultimately confronting him after learning he has stolen and refuses to surrender to the sheriff.
