Monte Hale Western #69

The Gophers gang finishes their robbery and disappears into the Tunnel/Wildwood Mines with their gold, but Monte Hale and his companions track them down, ambushing them at a high bluff where the outlaws are loading their stolen gold onto pack horses. During the chase and gunfight that follows, the gang scatters with their loot, and Monte must pursue them across the rugged terrain. Meanwhile, Monte encounters Professor Josiah Featherstone, an archaeologist exploring Mesa Mala, and agrees to guide the professor up the mesa while also recovering the stolen cattle herd and tracking down the fleeing outlaws.
