In a secondary storyline, Monte must rescue a man named Clay from danger in a tunnel while pursuing outlaws Gopher Graham and his accomplice, navigating a treacherous pothole cave system to reach the outside. A comedic backup story depicts chaos at a general store where ribs crack, a statue falls and destroys the window, and a new town statute collapses, leading to property damage claims and disputes over liability among the townspeople.
