Misty #19th May 1979 [67]
In "Perfect Specimen," Gail’s fascination with insects preserved in amber takes a chilling turn when a school trip to Norway leads her to a hidden glacial site. After uncovering a rare specimen, she plunges through thinning ice, becoming trapped in the frozen depths—only to be discovered millennia later by sentient insects who marvel at her as a flawless relic. A haunting, quietly eerie tale from a 1979 IPC publication, rendered in stark, evocative typeset lettering.

Gail is obsessed with insects preserved in amber and wants to have one of her own. When her school party spends a week in Norway, she hears that some speciments were recovered in a special place above a glacier. She finds one, but on the way back the snow gives way and she falls through to be preserved in the ice below. In the distant future, sentient insects discover her preserved in the ice and comment on how she is a perfect specimen.
