This issue contains two stories. "The Killer" follows the inoffensive Ernest Barth, a meek bookkeeper at a lumber yard owned by the domineering John Hackman, who desires to go hunting with his boss but is repeatedly ridiculed and humiliated. After Hackman's death, Ernest attempts to claim $50,000 that was deposited in a bank under the assumed name "Napoleon Bonapart III," but bank officials recognize the scheme as a deception and return him to an asylum. The second story involves a college rehearsal that goes awry when a professor warns a young woman away from a male student, expressing jealousy, but the student leaves a light on in his study; after the woman arrives at the study, an inexplicable sound is heard before she vanishes.
