“In the Direction of Love”

"In the Direction of Love" sees the Dolly-Pops, the world’s first travelling musical models, caught in a whirlwind of gossip and betrayal in Blackpool, where their manager’s sudden engagement to Dena sparks outrage—especially when the girls feel the 'hands off' rule has been broken. After a dramatic dunking on the pier, the group heads to Liverpool, only to learn they’re getting a new manager, leaving their future uncertain. Art by Enrique Montserrat, this 1970 IPC comic captures the era’s flair with a touch of cheeky charm.

The Dolly-Pops, the world's first travelling musical models, were in Blackpool where their manager had just publicly announced his engagement to Dena, much to her surprise. But the girls had a 'hands off Nick Curtis' rule and think she has welshed on the deal. Cornered on the pier, he tells them all it was just a publicity gag, but they throw him in the water. On their next stop in Liverpool, they learn they are getting a new manager.
