About this Issue

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42 (Legacy #324) is the capstone of Cody Ziglar's multi-year run — the final chapter of both the 'Web of Regret' arc and what Ziglar himself framed as 'The Ravager Saga' stretching back to issue #1. It delivers a rare cross-dimensional team-up between Miles and Earth-616's Peter Parker to confront Rabble (Raneem Rashad), Miles's signature villain of this era, positioning her as one of the most emotionally complex antagonists the character has ever faced. The issue also functions as a generational torch-passing moment, with Peter explicitly mentoring Miles on the limits of heroism — a thematic statement that carries weight across the entire Morales mythos. Its publication effectively closed Ziglar's volume and cleared the runway for the August 2026 relaunch by Bryan Edward Hill and Nico Leon, making it the definitive end-of-era marker for this chapter of Miles's publishing history.

History

Cody Ziglar's path to this issue began when his television work on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law opened the door to Marvel Comics; he contributed a backup to Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25 in 2021 before being handed the full ongoing series, which relaunched in 2022 alongside artist Federico Vicentini. By issue #42, the creative team on the primary story had shifted to co-writers Ziglar and Christopher Condon with interior art by Marco Renna and Stefano Caselli — the latter of whom also contributed a 'Foreshadow Variant' cover pointing toward the next era. The issue was collected in the trade paperback Miles Morales: Spider-Man by Cody Ziglar Vol. 8: Revenge of Rabble, which gathers issues #37–42 and stands as the final volume of Ziglar's run.
