Miles Morales: Spider-Man Vol. 2 #2 (cover-dated March 2023, released January 11, 2023) is the issue in which Raneem Rashad — introduced the previous month as a nameless antagonist — fully debuts as the costumed villain Rabble, giving Miles Morales his first wholly original arch-enemy: a character built from the soil of his own backstory rather than borrowed from Peter Parker's rogues gallery. Rabble's motivation is a dark inversion of the very lottery that put Miles in Brooklyn Visions Academy, making her grudge inseparable from the character's origin and giving the series a personal, socially resonant antagonist that would anchor the Ziglar run for years, culminating in her being formally designated Miles's arch-enemy at his 300th-issue milestone. History

The relaunch that produced this issue was announced in September 2022, with writer Cody Ziglar — a television writer whose She-Hulk: Attorney at Law work had already brought him into Marvel's orbit — and artist Federico Vicentini, a 2022 Marvel Stormbreakers honoree who had previously drawn Miles in the Absolute Carnage: Miles Morales miniseries, tapped to succeed Saladin Ahmed on the book. Marvel pre-announced Rabble by name before the series even launched, framing her tech-genius, drone-wielding threat as the central engine of the new run's opening arc, titled 'Trial by Spider'; issue #2 was the installment where that advance promise paid off on the page with her first full costumed appearance. The cover of the standard edition was painted by Dike Ruan, with multiple variants produced — including a 1:10 Federico Vicentini concept-design cover and a 1:50 Jonboy Meyers variant — reflecting the commercial attention Marvel invested in the relaunch.
