Richard imprisons Samson, ordering Sharmaine to capture the unicorn, which is actually a mutation. Samson saves her and fights the radioactive beast. That radiation does indeed heal Mindor, and strengthens Samson, but it kills Richard when he tries to seize it. Some of the tribesfolk leave the Cloisters, while others decide to make their home there and create a new regime, while caring for the irreplaceable artworks.
