Mighty Marvel Masterworks: The X-Men #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume kicks off Marvel's Mighty Marvel Masterworks line with the earliest adventures of the original X-Men, collecting X-Men #1-10. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduce Professor Charles Xavier and his first team of teenage mutants—Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Angel, and Iceman—as they battle Magneto, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and other early foes. The collection establishes the foundational themes of prejudice and mutantkind's struggle for acceptance that would define the franchise for decades.
The X-Men #1 kicks off the legendary series with a bold new direction: after a violent attack from a mutant-hating mob, Beast quits the team and turns to professional wrestling. When he encounters Unus, a mutant immune to physical contact, the X-Men are drawn back into a conflict that tests their resolve—especially when they discover Beast has built a machine to amplify Unus’ powers, with unexpected and bizarre consequences. Written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Jack Kirby, with Chic Stone’s inks, Laurie Smith’s colors, and S. Rosen’s lettering, this landmark issue features a striking cover by Michael Cho.
