It reprints his revival and early solo adventures from the 1960s, showcasing his complex role as both hero and antagonist in the Marvel Universe. The collection sets the stage for Namor's quest to reclaim his kingdom and his place among Earth's mightiest heroes and villains.
In *In Mortal Combat with... Sub-Mariner!*, Namor takes a radical stand against humanity, hiring Franklin and Murdock to sue the world on his behalf—only to find the courts no match for his fury. When diplomacy fails, he deliberately gets arrested, forcing a trial that turns into a violent showdown, drawing in Daredevil in a battle that tests both hero and villain. As Namor’s rage threatens to consume everything, he ultimately turns from the surface world, retreating to the sea to confront a new threat to Atlantis.
In "The Start of the Quest!", Namor returns to Atlantis to find his throne seized by the warlord Krang, who aims to conquer the surface world. After being betrayed by Lady Dorma—despite her love for him—Namor is imprisoned as a traitor, but with her secret help, he escapes, determined to reclaim his kingdom by finding the legendary Trident of Neptune. Neither Namor nor Dorma know that Krang has set a deadly trap in the depths, waiting for the prince of Atlantis to come calling.
In "Escape... to Nowhere!", Namor ventures into the Forbidden Deeps, driven by his relentless pursuit of Neptune's Trident. To claim the next clue, he must confront the legendary Seaweed Man, a foe who has never been bested in his domain. As tensions rise in Atlantis, Dorma, haunted by her past actions, resolves to reclaim Namor’s trust—even if it means risking everything.
In "A Prince There Was!", Namor races through the ocean depths in search of the legendary Trident of Neptune, narrowly evading a tangle of deadly seaweed before being overwhelmed by the disorienting glare of the Diamonds of Doom. Meanwhile, back in Atlantis, Prince Krang, frustrated by Lady Dorma’s repeated rejections, banishes her to the mysterious realm of the Faceless Ones.
In "By Force of Arms!", Namor summons a swarm of electric eels to turn the tide against the Demon of the Diamonds, then sets out on a perilous journey to the land of the Faceless Ones to rescue Dorma, who has been exiled. Meanwhile, back in Atlantis, unrest brews as the citizens rise up against Krang’s rule.
In "The End of the Quest!", Namor fights to protect the unconscious Dorma as the Nameless Ones close in, only to be rescued by Neptune himself, who bestows his trident upon the Sub-Mariner. With Dorma's life hanging in the balance, Namor entrusts the trident to the watching Vashti the Elder as he races to save her with the revitalizer ray—only for Krang to intervene, poised to destroy them both.
In "To Walk Amongst Men!", Namor ventures to the surface when seismic upheavals shake Atlantis, only to discover Hank Pym wielding a massive drill in search of ancient secrets. What he uncovers sets off a chain of events that stirs something long buried beneath the ocean floor.
In "The Prince and the Puppet!", Namor finds himself caught between duty and deception when the Puppet Master hijacks his mind during a tense confrontation with Hank and Jan over a destructive drilling operation. Forced to carry out a bank heist in New York, Namor returns with a stack of treasury bonds—only to be sent back into a deadly showdown with the military, all while the Puppet Master’s strings pull him toward a fight he never wanted.
When Rises the Behemoth finds Namor caught in a web of manipulation, his mind enslaved by the Puppet Master as he’s hunted by the Army for a crime he didn’t commit. Seeking refuge in the Hudson River, he’s drawn to Lady Dorma, who’s come to the surface to warn him—Atlantis is in peril, and the ancient Behemoth has awakened. But as Namor fights to reclaim his will, a new threat stirs beneath the waves, and the Puppet Master is already preparing his next puppet.
In "To the Death!", Namor faces off against the monstrous Behemoth as the fate of Atlantis hangs in the balance. With Krang manipulating the beast through a mind-controlled puppet, Namor uses electric eels to turn the creature’s power against its master—shattering the puppet and sending the Behemoth into a bottomless pit. But when Krang appears in Atlantis and threatens to revive the monster unless Lady Dorma agrees to marry him, the tide of battle shifts in the most unexpected way.
