Mighty Avengers #11
Tied into the Original Sin crossover event, this 2014 issue of Mighty Avengers sports a cover by Francesco Francavilla that channels pure street-level cool — two figures in civilian clothes sprint hard through an urban setting, one brandishing what looks like a blade and the other gripping a glowing device, with a dramatic flashback silhouette of armed men looming in the fiery orange background. The retro palette and gritty composition give the whole thing a grindhouse action-movie energy that feels right at home with the team's Harlem-rooted heroics. Al Ewing's script is backed by the interior art team of Greg Land, Jay Leisten, and Frank D'Armata, making this a stylistically rich chapter in one of Marvel's most underappreciated team books of the era.
