J. Michael Straczynski's Midnight Nation arrives in 2000 with this atmospheric first issue from Top Cow/Image, its cover by Gary Frank and Jason Gorder setting a moody, noir-drenched tone. A weary, gun-in-hand man in a rumpled suit walks a rain-slicked city street at night, his expression haunted, while the enormous, shadowy face of a dark-haired woman looms over the scene like a ghost in the background. It's a striking opening image for what promises to be a dark, urban story with a cinematic sensibility.
