This anthology issue contains two stories: "Fortune or Fate?" narrated by Kent Nelson, a Territorial Officer in South Africa, recounts his pursuit of ivory poacher Porter Cain across the African bush with the help of M'golu and his tribesmen, ultimately leading to Cain's capture after he attempts to flee with stolen ivory tusks. The second story follows Pepe, a man in love with Rosita who has been taken by another suitor named José; Pepe encounters an old woman and a mysterious figure named Leonard who help him win Rosita back from José, after which Leonard and Yvonne, a lonely woman, become romantically involved and plan to work together in the government service.
