“Mickey Mouse and the Amazing Lost Ocean: Prologue: A Cold Bitterness”

In the icy depths of a frozen northern wasteland, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy brave the ruins of a sunken airship in search of Corallite fuel, a rare energy source vital to their mission. When Steampunk Pete steals the prize from under Mickey’s nose, the team finds unexpected hope in a cache of strange mechanical parts that Goofy transforms into a brainwave-guided robo-diver for deeper salvage runs. Written by Denis-Pierre Filippi and Jonathan Gray, with striking art by Silvio Camboni and vibrant colors by Gaspard Yvan and Jessica Bodart, this steampunk-inspired prologue sets a thrilling tone for the series—cover by Silvio Camboni.

In this "elseworlds/steampunk-type tale", Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy are in the bitter-cold north country attempting to salvage tanks of Corallite fuel from a wrecked airship frozen deep within the ice. Mickey risks his life to retrieve the prize, but gets only a small bit of it when he is outdone by Steampunk Pete. All is not lost, however, as they also salvaged some valuable "mechanical doodads" with which Goofy (cast here as a sort of mechanics savant) tinkers and develops a "brainwave guidance transmitter" which he plans to use in a "robo-diver" for more treacherous salvaging.
