Rahger follows Eilah back to the realm of the Blue and begs her to return with him to the Black. When she refuses, he asks that she at least let Aspen return with him to the Black so he can spend time with his daughter. When she refuses this as well, Rahger prepares to return alone but Zo and his allies attack and try to force Loma and his family to comply so that the Black will be indebted to them. Eilah is quickly killed in the ensuing conflict and Loma also gives his life to protect his children and ensure that they have something of a future, even if he doesn't get to be a part of it.
