The seventh volume of Soleil's Merlin series — subtitled Le Chaudron de Bran-le-Béni — arrives with a cover that immediately commands attention: a dark-haired woman in a deep-blue corset cradles a wounded, armored warrior on stone steps, a flame burning in the background against a classical column. The mood is tender yet foreboding, with what appears to be blood on the stonework lending real dramatic weight to the scene. Created by Istin, Lambert, and Stambecco, this 2005 entry in the Arthurian saga looks to be one of the series' more emotionally charged chapters.
