An anthology of true tales depicting recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor. "Powers in the Critical Coral Sea Battle" follows Garcia, who destroys an enemy machine gun emplacement, kills three enemy soldiers, and captures four Nazi soldiers, earning him the Medal of Honor. Another story features Major Galer, a Marine pilot who shot down 11 Japanese bombers and fighters over 29 days of combat above 25,000 feet, for which President Franklin D. Roosevelt awarded him the Congressional Medal of Honor on March 23, 1943. A third story details the development of the "Bat" radar-guided bomb, a weapon coordinated by Captain D. P. Tucker and developed through collaboration between the Navy Bureau of Ordnance, the National Bureau of Standards, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
