About this Collection

This collection brings together the complete run of the 1988 series from Comics USA, a short-lived sci-fi/action comic about a team of elite troubleshooters in a dystopian future who use advanced mechanical suits and weaponry to tackle high-risk missions. The series was created by writer Chuck Dixon and artist Tom Lyle, known for their work on other independent and mainstream titles of the era. It captures the gritty, high-energy style of late-80s independent comics with a focus on technology-driven conflict and team dynamics.

In "Mechanics," Jaime Hernandez and Janine Bharucha deliver a tense, character-driven story as Penny, on the run from Costigan with Bomber in tow, dyes her hair to stay hidden. When she learns Bomber has a wife, her choices grow more complicated—especially after Costigan’s ex-wife shows up, forcing her to flee once more. Jaime Hernandez’s sharp, expressive art and Paul Rivoche’s subtle coloring bring the emotional weight of every uneasy moment to life, while the cover by Hernandez captures the story’s restless energy.
