Mayday #4 from Image Comics closes out this five-issue series with a cover that doubles as a piece of 1970s-era protest agitprop — a bold orange field bearing the rallying cry "If the Government doesn't stop the war, we will stop the Government," alongside a nuclear bomb silhouette and a striking figure of a woman in motion with a raised gun. The stark, graphic design work by Tony Parker channels the visual language of anti-war demonstration posters with real conviction, making the cover feel less like a comic book and more like something you'd find stapled to a telephone pole in Washington, D.C. With Alex de Campi and Blond rounding out the creative team, this 2017 series clearly has a lot on its mind — and isn't shy about saying so.
