Mayday #1
From Image Comics in 2016, Mayday #1 opens this five-issue series from writer Alex de Campi and artist Tony Parker with a cover that immediately commands attention. Parker's stark, minimalist design presents a woman's face rendered entirely in vivid red, hanging upside-down against a black void, her yellow eyes burning with cool, dangerous intensity as her hair flows upward like smoke or flame. It's a striking, unsettling image that sets a mood of espionage and menace before you've turned a single page.
