Young King Cole teams up with detective Lance Martin to investigate a jewelry smuggling operation that uses hollowed-out imported clocks as contraband carriers, but their discovery at a suspicious clock shop leads to a locked-room murder that tests King's detective skills. When Martin is found shot dead behind a locked door with no apparent way for the killer to have escaped, King must unravel the impossible crime and expose the real culprit before the obvious suspect takes the fall.
