This 2011 Mosquito album sets a noir mood right from its cover, bathing a blue-lit urban night in quiet menace: a sharply dressed figure leans against a car, cigarette smoke curling upward, while a solitary woman approaches in the distance. Inset on the cover, a wild-eyed clown-faced character brandishes a revolver — a jarring, unsettling contrast that hints at the strange collision of worlds the title Masques promises. It's a beautifully composed piece of French bande dessinée atmosphere, signed by Casini, that draws you in before you've even opened the first page.
