The plan goes awry when Spider-Man intervenes, leading to chaos and tragedy as Blackie Gaxton shoots Betty’s brother during the clash. Though Gaxton is captured, Doc Ock escapes, leaving Betty to grapple with loss and guilt. Peter Parker, torn by the aftermath, tries to offer comfort in the wake of the tragedy.
