Marvel Zombies Destroy! #3

The third chapter of this five-part Marvel limited series turns up the chaos with a cover by Michael Del Mundo that's equal parts war comic and horror spectacle — soldiers armed with a bazooka labeled "Aim At Enemy: Pact" brace themselves as a snarling zombie Pegasus and its undead rider loom terrifyingly overhead, while winged creatures and distant combatants fill a smoke-choked sky behind them. Del Mundo's rich, painterly palette gives the whole scene a grimy, pulp-war atmosphere that fits the "Marvel Zombies Destroy!" premise perfectly. With Peter David scripting and Al Barrionuevo on interior art, "A World Upside Down" promises the kind of gleefully grim mash-up this 2012 series has been delivering since issue one.
