“Master of the Ring Parts 5 and Conclusion”

Robert Kirkman and Scott Kolins bring this 2005 series to a dramatic turning point with "Master of the Ring Parts 5 and Conclusion." The cover by Scott Kolins tells quite a story on its own: a massive, ornately adorned elephant — decked out in ceremonial headgear with red jewels and feathers — looms over a flattened Spider-Man, Moon Knight, and Daredevil, the three heroes clearly having come out on the losing end of whatever confrontation this is. It's a wonderfully unexpected image that captures the wit and unpredictability that made this run a standout.
