Despite Gwen's hatred for Spider-Man, Peter decides he must tell her the truth about his identity. But the news that Spider-Man is responsible for Captain Stacy's death causes Hobie to feel he was set up as an unwitting accomplice when he was asked to impersonate Spider-Man. He decides to go after Spider-Man as the Prowler and finds him outside Gwen's window. Hobie is injured in the fight, but Spider-Man saves him and sneaks him into a hospital. However, the fight delays Peter and when he arrives at Gwen's apartment, she has already flown off to London.
