“By Myself Betrayed!”

Spider-Man in his sleek black alien costume dominates this 1992 reprint cover, hurling two goons through the air with effortless power while a red-haired thug takes a hit below — all under the watchful, gun-drawn gaze of the mysterious, hat-brimmed villain identified on the cover as The Rose. Ron Lim's pencils and Larry Mahlstedt's inks deliver a kinetic, tightly packed brawl scene that captures exactly why the alien costume saga remains such a compelling chapter in Spider-Man's history. Celebrating Marvel's 30th anniversary of the Amazing Spider-Man, this issue also reprints Tom DeFalco and Rick Leonardi's story "By Myself Betrayed!" — a solid package for any fan of the web-slinger's darker, symbiote-shadowed era.
