Marvel Tales #149
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis Atlas-era anthology from 1956 delivers exactly the kind of spine-tingling strangeness Marvel Tales was known for, with a cover by Bill Everett that stops you cold: a massive, ghostly creature looms over a city alleyway, one enormous hand clutching a helpless man aloft while panicked civilians scatter in every direction below. The stories promised inside — including "The Last Warning!," "The Broken Man!," and "Among the Missing!" — suggest a full issue of eerie twists and unsettling surprises, all at the original dime price. A wonderfully atmospheric snapshot of mid-1950s genre comics done with real craft.

In the year 2095 an immortality serum is developed and stolen by a ruthless man. He is pursued off planet by the authorities but then his rocket runs out of fuel on a lifeless asteroid. He decides that eternal life would be a curse on this barren asteroid so he swallows fluid from a bottle marked poison in order to end it all, but when he reads through the theft victim's notes, he's shocked to learn that the serum developer hid the serum inside the poison bottle.
