Villagers claim the body that was discovered is the victim of a werewolf but an American hunter scoffs and goes out into the storm seeking to kill the timber wolf and bring it back. While asleep he feels an impending presence and a sharp pain in his arm. When he wakes he is terrified to learn that he has been bitten. He looks into a mirror and sees a wolf's face glaring back at him. Giving in to despair he uses the shotgun on himself rather than transforming into a beast. Outside the tent the ordinary wolf that had been staring into the tent turns and stalks away into the forest.
