In "The Puppet and the Power," Hulk, manipulated by the Living Lightning's mind control, turns on his longtime enemy General Ross, only to be subdued by gas and imprisoned alongside Betty Ross. With the military distracted and the base under siege, the mysterious Lord of the Living Lightning makes his move, forcing Ross to choose between obedience and the fate of the woman he cares about.

In "To Destroy the Realm Eternal," Namor returns to Atlantis only to find it under siege by the Plunderer. As their clash erupts beneath the waves, an American submarine, detecting the disturbance, unleashes depth charges—destroying the Plunderer’s vessel and devastating much of the underwater city. With Namor unconscious and the Atlantean army now poised to rise and wage war on the surface world, tensions reach a breaking point.
