“A Stranger Strikes from Space”

In "A Stranger Strikes from Space," the Hulk’s fragile chance at redemption is tested when the president offers a pardon—only for the newly reformed Boomerang to exploit the moment, reigniting the Hulk’s rage and reigniting the conflict. Written by Stan Lee and brought to life with dynamic art by Gil Kane, this 1974 issue captures a pivotal moment of tension and betrayal, with the cover by Gene Colan, John Romita, Bill Everett, and Mike Esposito adding a striking visual punch.

Since they have discovered that the Hulk is not the total villain he has been painted to be, the president tells Ross to pardon him if he thinks the threat is over. Of course, Boomerang picks that exact moment to secretly enrage the jade giant, causing him to go on another rampage and causing Ross to still see him as a menace. Hulk fights the new and improved (but still fashion-impaired) Boomerang.
