“Paradigm Shift”

In "Paradigm Shift," the Avengers face their strangest mission yet when the most annoying aliens in the universe arrive on Earth, pleading for help against Galactus—whose appetite threatens their home planet. With the Ultimate Nullifier useless, the heroes must challenge the World Eater and his reluctant herald, the Silver Surfer, to a series of bizarre contests, from chess to baseball, with the fate of Baston-Kar hanging in the balance. Written by Jeff Parker and illustrated by Ig Guara, with inks by Sandro Ribeiro, colors by Ulises Arreola, and letters by Dave Sharpe, the cover by Leonard Kirk captures the cosmic absurdity perfectly.
