Martian Manhunter #5

This December 2015 issue of DC's Martian Manhunter delivers a striking cover by Eric Canete, depicting a weathered, sharp-horned Martian figure clutching what appears to be a writhing, partially transformed green form — the tension between the two shapes suggesting a struggle that is as much internal as physical. The moody grey backdrop and vivid magenta title lettering give the whole image a brooding, otherworldly atmosphere that suits J'onn J'onzz's ongoing New 52-era solo series perfectly. With Rob Williams writing and Eddy Barrows, Diógenes Neves, Marc Deering, and Gabe Eltaeb handling interior art and color, "Heart / Head" looks to be a compelling chapter in this dark, ambitious run.
