Mars Attacks #8

Mars Attacks #8 from IDW delivers one of the more unexpectedly charming cover images in the series — a smirking human man and a fully armored Martian invader holding hands against a giant red heart, both casually brandishing firearms while cherubs flutter mischievously around them. The juxtaposition of Valentine's Day sweetness and alien menace is perfectly absurd, and John McCrea's linework sells every bit of it with confidence and wit. Writer John Layman and the creative team clearly weren't afraid to have a little fun with their terrifying conquerors from the red planet.
