Mars Attacks #1

Dynamite's 2018 relaunch of Mars Attacks kicks off with a cover by Tom Mandrake (colored by Sian Mandrake) that pulls no punches: a squad of bug-eyed Martian invaders in teal pressure suits surge forward brandishing ray guns, their flying saucers streaking through a fiery sky above a grim foreground littered with skulls. The composition has real energy, from the towering lead alien reaching toward the viewer down to the smaller Martians advancing in the background, all rendered with Mandrake's kinetic, detail-rich linework. If this cover is any indication, the red planet's finest are back and very much on the offensive.
