"Colonel Mutt" follows Marine Corporal Joseph Edward Smith, who received a medal for action against the enemy in Korea in November 1950, though someone had sabotaged his rifle and he couldn't give it to a fellow Marine. "Crack-Up" depicts Captain "Big Jake" Gordon leading his company through blood-soaked combat in the Pacific in November 1943 and again in the Marshall Islands, earning a reputation as a terror to the enemy. The final story shown features Captain Jackson, who flew a dangerous mission despite having a faulty new carburetor, and must evade Japanese forces after his plane goes down near enemy barges in a lagoon.
