Eileen stays with her sister and her sister's husband, Garfield. They have just moved to Banfield, but their furniture hasn't turned up so they have to spend the night with Lord John Curtis. The Lord's son shows Eileen around the grounds until Deidre shows up, spoiling the date. She returns to discover the furniture has arrived. Garfield shows Eileen a well in the garden and uses a bag to try to determine the depth of the well. The rope breaks and the bag is lost at the bottom of the well. Then a workman comes, asking for his tool bag.
