Dick and Shirley have an argument, ending when she takes off her ring and flings it at him. But it misses and rolls down into a basement apartment. The woman living there offers them of cup of tea to get out of the rain after looking in vain for the ring. Kathleen had heard their argument and told them of her story of how she had lost Tom. Dick and Shirley make up and Dick goes to buy her some flowers. From Kathleen's story, they recognize the ring being worn by the man in the flower shop as belonging to Tom and help reunite him with Kathleen.
