The second volume of Dark Dragon Books' Marco Polo series brings us to the splendid court of the Great Khan, exactly as the subtitle "Aan het hof van de Grote Khan" promises. Fabio Bono's cover immerses us in a breathtaking imperial audience: a young traveler at the center presents himself before robed courtiers and armored guards, while an enormous golden dragon coils dramatically above the assembled figures in a richly decorated palace. Writers Christian Clot, Didier Convard, and Éric Adam are clearly sending their protagonist into the heart of one of history's most powerful courts, and this 2021 Dutch-language edition makes for a truly compelling read.
