About this Collection

A graphic novel by Barry Lyga, illustrated by Colleen Doran, that blends manga and Western comic styles. The story follows Ryoko Kishi, a character from a manga world who accidentally falls into a realistic American high school, where his comic-book physics clash with everyday reality. This standalone volume collects the complete narrative originally published in 2011 by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

In this standout issue of Mangaman, writer Barry Lyga and artist Colleen Doran deliver a heartfelt, visually rich story of a boy from a Manga world who stumbles into our reality. As Ryoko struggles to adapt, forming a bond with Marissa that defies both worlds, their growing connection becomes a quiet rebellion against the fear and misunderstanding around them. Cover by Colleen Doran captures the emotional core of this cross-dimensional journey.
