Malorix brings to vivid life the clash between the Frisians and Romans around Castellum Flevum near Velsen, exactly as the Dutch cover text promises. Bert Bus's cover places armored Roman soldiers — a centurion with a striking red-plumed helmet and a legionary gripping a large red shield — on a fortified wooden rampart, surveying a wide, marshy river landscape dotted with settlement buildings, a watchtower, and Roman vessels on the water. It's a handsomely rendered piece of historical comics craft, with Bus handling every aspect of the work himself for this 1996 release.
