Malefosse #9

Bardet and Dermaut's long-running historical series continues with De ijzeren veer, the ninth volume of Malefosse, published by Daedalus in 2023. The cover by François Dermaut sets a striking scene in an autumn woodland: a confident young woman in a flowing gold dress holds a sword at her side as she stands over a kneeling figure dressed in elaborate blue-and-white period costume, with a tall stone obelisk rising through the trees behind them. It's a beautifully rendered tableau that captures the intrigue and elegance this series has made its hallmark.
