Major Bummer #15

The final issue of DC's gleefully irreverent Major Bummer goes out swinging — literally. Doug Mahnke's cover depicts a snarling, anthropomorphic clock villain looming over the ropes of a boxing ring, bloody gloves raised, while a battered, massively muscled Lou Collins lies flat on the canvas, groaning the word "c-c-cancelled" — a winking, self-aware acknowledgment of the series' own fate. It's a wonderfully absurd image that captures everything Major Bummer did so well: blending superhero spectacle with sharp, self-deprecating humor right up to the end.
