Magnum Comics #6/1988
In "Axa," writer Donne Avenell and artist Enrique Romero deliver a stark, atmospheric tale of survival and resistance in a fractured world. When Axa is captured by a mutant sect in an ancient serpent temple, her fate hangs in the balance—until one among them has a change of heart. Escaping into a desolate landscape, she finds fleeting refuge with Jaime and his daughter Maria in a remote lighthouse, only to witness their brutal end at the hands of a violent gang. With the storm raging and the dead behind her, Axa presses on, her journey marked by quiet defiance. The cover by Enrique Romero captures the story’s haunting mood, drawing readers into a world where survival is both physical and moral.
