Cullen Bunn and Javier Fernández's 2014 solo Magneto series continues with a cover by Declan Shalvey that makes an immediate impression: a dark, cloaked figure wearing Magneto's unmistakable helmet stands atop a towering mound of skulls, scythe raised against a cold blue-grey sky. It's a striking image that frames the Master of Magnetism as something far more grim and relentless than a conventional super-villain. Colorist Dan Brown keeps the palette deliberately muted, lending the whole scene a weight that suits a series clearly interested in Magneto's darker, more haunted side.
