Issue 13 of Matt Wagner's Mage: The Hero Defined puts a striking figure front and center — a young man with wild white dreadlocks, round blue-tinted glasses, and a purple lightning-bolt t-shirt, fists raised in a fighter's stance. Wagner's linework gives the character real attitude and presence, and the purple-to-black gradient background keeps all the focus squarely on him. With the story titled "Out Damned Spot!" this 1999 Image series continues to blend mythic heroism with street-level cool in a way that feels genuinely distinctive.
